Privacy Policy

This page explains, in plain language, what information this website collects, why it is collected, and the choices you have. This website is an educational website about speech, language, feeding, and swallowing, run by Hamayal Adnan, Speech-Language Pathologist.

Please read this page before you use the contact form or subscribe to the newsletter.

What information we collect

We only collect the small amount of information needed to run this website and reply to you.

When you use the contact form, we collect the details you type in, such as your name, your email address, who your enquiry is about, and your message. This is so we can read your enquiry and reply to you.

When you subscribe to the newsletter, we collect your email address, and a record that you agreed to receive it. This is so we can send you the newsletter you asked for.

When you visit the website, basic technical information may be collected automatically to help the website work safely. This can include the type of browser and device you use, the pages you visit, and general information about how the site is used. Cookies may also be used. Please see the Cookie Policy page for more information about cookies.

We do not ask you to create an account to read this website.

What we do NOT collect through this website

No medical records are taken through this website.

This website does not collect medical records, test results, or detailed health histories. Please do not send detailed medical information through the contact form. A short, general description of your enquiry is enough for a first message. If more information is needed, that will be discussed with you in a safer and more suitable way.

Please also do not use the contact form for emergencies. If someone is choking, has sudden speech changes, face drooping or weakness, or is having difficulty breathing, call your local emergency number immediately.

Why we use your information

We use the information described above only for these purposes:

  • To read and reply to enquiries sent through the contact form.
  • To send the newsletter, but only to people who have subscribed and asked for it.
  • To run, protect, and improve this website, including understanding which pages are helpful so the content can be made clearer and easier to use.

We do not use contact form messages or newsletter email addresses to make decisions about your health care.

Sharing your information

Your information is not sold.

It is not shared for marketing by other companies. It may be shared only where it is needed to run this website — for example, with the services that host the website, deliver the contact form, or send the newsletter — and only so they can do that work. These services are used in general terms to operate the site, and they should only use your information for that purpose.

Information may also be shared if there is a clear legal duty to do so, or to protect the safety of a person.

How long we keep your information

We keep information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected.

  • Contact form enquiries are kept while your enquiry is being dealt with, and for a reasonable time afterwards in case you contact us again about the same matter. They are then deleted when they are no longer needed.
  • Newsletter email addresses are kept for as long as you stay subscribed. If you unsubscribe, your address is removed from the sending list.
  • Basic technical records are kept for a short period to help keep the website secure and working well, and are then deleted or made anonymous.

We review what we hold from time to time and delete information that is no longer needed.

Your choices

You are in control of the information you share with this website.

  • Newsletter: You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email. You will then stop receiving the newsletter.
  • Your information: You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected if it is wrong, or ask for it to be deleted. To do this, please get in touch via the contact page on this website.
  • Cookies: You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings. Please see the Cookie Policy page for simple steps.

We will respond to requests about your information as fully and as promptly as we reasonably can.

Children’s privacy

The content of this website is written for adults — parents, carers, teachers, and adults seeking information for themselves. It is not written directly for children to use on their own.

Children should use this website with a parent or carer. Parents and carers should be the ones to send messages through the contact form and to subscribe to the newsletter. We do not aim to collect personal information directly from children through this website. If you believe a child has sent personal information through this website, please let us know via the contact page on this website so it can be removed.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time, for example if the website changes how it works. The updated version will be published on this page, and the date at the bottom of the page will be changed. Please check this page from time to time if you would like to stay up to date.

If you have a question about this policy, please get in touch via the contact page on this website.
